The Stop Social Housing Stigma campaign is run by a National Committee made up of tenant members of Stop Social Housing Stigma, who are passionate about challenging stigma in social housing, and taking positive action to promote being a social housing tenant.

The National Committee meets regularly to plan and deliver the campaign, and we’re supported by different housing associations across the UK.

My name is Lynne Brosnan. I have been a tenant of RBH (Rochdale Boroughwide Housing) for 42 years. I have been actively involved for most of that time. I was active in founding our Estate Management Board and at present I am Chair of this Board. RBH is a mutual organisation and I was previously the vice chair of our Representative Body. I joined SSHS to help raise awareness and challenge stigma that very much exists within our communities.

I’m a tenant of London Borough of Croydon and have been actively involved for over 16 years.  I chair Croydon’s Tenants and Leaseholders Panel and serve on various other panels.  I’m drawn to causes that promote resident wellbeing and healthy tenant/landlord relationship.  I was introduced to the then Benefit to Society (now SSHS) shortly after its inception, being very passionate about addressing stigmatisation within social housing.  What was very remarkable at my first meeting was the passion and enthusiasm of the panel members.  I left that meeting saying, yes, this is a cause and a group I’d be happy to work with.  I’m very encouraged when I reflect on our journey thus far and feel very positive about our future.  In serving as vice chair, I’m committed to ‘flying the flag for fair representation for residents who live in social housing.

Housing association tenant Yorkshire

My name is Pam Hankinson. I am an engaged tenant of South Yorkshire Housing Association. I am also a Board member, and a member of the scrutiny panel. I have been a tenant of SYHA for fifteen years. I have been part of the Stop Social Housing Stigma Campaign since its inception in 2017. I am passionate about giving everyone a voice to try to stop the stigma that is frequently aimed at those of us who live in social housing.

My name is Fiona Brown. I have been an involved tenant of Progress Housing for about 20 years with the tenant Forum and Scrutiny. I became involved with the Stop Social Housing Stigma campaign almost from its inception in 2017. I had observed first-hand the stigma faced by social housing tenants and saw that the way to change things was to become involved, so I was honoured to be elected as a member of the campaign team. Now as the treasurer of Stop Social Housing Stigma, I am even more passionate to support the campaign in its aim to eradicate stigma in social housing.

Housing association tenant South West

My name is Colin Lincoln – tenant with LiveWest 7 years. I was invited to join a major redevelopment project in Plymouth from 2001 till 2017. Stigma was a major issue to this run down area. I was invited to join SSHS and jumped at the chance to change the stigma culture within society locally and within the wider sectors.
